change playback octave

Post by Guest » Sun Dec 18, 2011 8:43 pm

Hi,

New to Logic Pro.

I have a playback imported into LogicPro 9.1.5.

The problam is that it is Octave to high for the singer and I need to take it one Octave down.

How can it be done?

Did look for an answer but didn't find any.

Thank

Yarnin

Hi Yarnin,

The "playback".  Are you talking about MIDI regions or audio regions?

Changing "octaves" is useless. The key of G an octave down is still the key of G. Are you sure that's what you mean?

I pressume you mean "key" not "octave".

Press W on your keyboard to open the sample editor and transpose from there.

If you want to go down 2 semitones, select -200 cents.

If the song is in a male key, and you wish to transpose to a female key, select either 700 or 500 cents down.

Each 100cents is a semitone.

Firstly transposing an octave will not make ANY difference for your singer, second, transposing audio like that sounds abysmal. Even if you're going to transpose less, (third, fourth or fifth down), it'll still sound pretty iffy.

You should really use MIDI, which is easily transposable without the fidelity loss.
