logic pro 8 - after going to OS 10.5 -...

Post by Guest » Mon Jan 02, 2012 6:49 am

It has been a long time since I last did some work with logic. Meantime I have upgraded my system from 10.4 to 10.5. I still use my old G5 PPC.

As of today the settings windows do not open and to activate them brings logic to crash.

Has anyone an idea, how this can be helped?

Regards, Mark

Yep, it's a bug in early versions of Logic 8 in combination with Leopard 10.5x

You need the Logic 8.02 update.

I did what you told to do - but alas: the problem is still the same.

btw: I was not asked to renew the serial number input.

Are there any files I should have deleted before re installing?

Best regards,

Mark

Only the window of the notation settings does open up:

When I try the other options, I get this:

Have you Run Software Update... Done a Permissions Repair and a Restart...?

Which Versions of Logic and Leopard do you now have Installed...?

I have indeed done all this.

And the following box does also not disappear, instead the program crashes.

When you run Apple's "Software Update" do you have any software named  "Prokit" or "Appkit" as an update, if yes, install them.

The only otherthing I can think of is either a possible conflict with a plugin or a "rewire" conflict with Leopard.

Older version of rewire are not compatible with Leopard.

Look in:  Root/Library/Application Support    see if there's a "Propellerhead Software" folder, if so, -move- it to the Desktop and try Logic again.

I think prokit was among the update I did install.

And I deleted the propellerhead folder in application support ... but all this didn't change a thing.

I wonder what I should have deleted before re installing Logic, if any?

I own Logic 8 as an upgrade, and if I remember to have needed the dongle with Logic 7 - or was it Logic 6?

Just the same: even for the upgrade the old dongle doesn't seem to be needed any more.
