Log & transfer issues from Canon 5D
Log & transfer issues from Canon 5D
Hey, There's some footage shot on a Canon 5D (in H.264 format), I want to use FCP 7's log & transfer feature to convert to apple pro res. However the files are greyed out and unable to click on them. Equally as unsuccessful, I can't drag them from finder on to the log & transfer window. The files haven't been moved since copying the data from cards (which they are no longer on) so unsure as to why they are not importing. I have tried from both an external hard drive and from a server but can't access them via FCP 7. I can view them in preview, but not in Quicktime if this helps anyone find the root of the problem

I believe Canon now has a software solution for you, you might Google around or see what other 5D users are doing - or you can use Magic Bullet Grinder to do what you want. http://www.redgiantsoftware.com/product ... t-grinder/ MtD

Thanks for the quick reply, and for the info on bullet grinder, I may look into that for myself! I am using a companys' editing suite though and was trying to use the canon plug-in for FCP that allows you to log & transfer footage to pro res, any ideas?

Sorry, only use Grinder. Stick around, someone should be able to help you. MtD
Re:Log & transfer issues from Canon 5D
Download and install the free 'EOS Movie Plugin E1 for FCPV1.2' http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/ ... os_5d_mark_ ii#DriversAndSoftwareUse the Log and Transfer to import H.264 footage form the camera or the card directly into FCP, you will have the options in the import window setting to decide what type of ProRes to convert to. Works like a charm..
